If so, then if there is a risk involved in rejecting Christianity then it’s exactly the same as the risk involved in rejecting Hinduism, right? Which is the same as the risk involved in rejecting any religion that has ever been invented, right? And all these opposing risks cancel each other out leaving a perfectly zero value, and this zero value is where atheism resides, right?

    Correct.
    Correct.
    Semi-Correct.
    Incorrect.

  2. Myth Buster says:

True but Hinduism came long before Christianity and Jesus is a carbon copy replica of Krishna. Plus the Gita inspired the likes of Gandhi while the Bible inspired slavery, bigotry, misogyny and the Crusades. Hinduism allows total flexibility for you to choose what works for you and reject what does not while Christianity attempts to control you with its dogma. Plus the Hindu Gods are all noble warriors who have never taken a beating from any human beings…. if one must choose Hindu philosophies are far more profound than Christian dogma and all western scholars agree. Also, atheism and Hinduism can get along since technically Brahman is limitless and cannot be defined and is seen more as a universal soul or cosmic energy which are concepts compatible with atheism. Finally Hinduism was never spread by the sword and believes there are many avenues to one destination which is a more tolerant view and you do not have to worship any personal God whatsoever (some even worship the Sun as the ultimate sustainer of life)

I don’t think we could ever produce a method of calculating probability other than being based on existing evidence. At present there is zero evidence to support either, so any rational calculation could only give the probability of each to be zero.
Until some sort of confirming evidence appears, we can say no more than this.

  4. TRACEY says:

‘God’ is not some bloke sitting on a cloud in the sky. We humans are all ‘gods’- part of the same ‘whole’. We are all interconnected, related and dependent on each other for our mutual survival.
The reason no scientist has been able to prove the existence (or not!) of ‘god’ is simply because they have been looking in the WRONG place! ‘He/She/It isn’t ‘up there’ – He/She/It is in US – inside us! We have the power. Please all read up on the history of religion to see that religion is a man made system, based on the polical / selfish desire of individuals throughout history.

  5. Non-Conformist Satanist says:

They both have 0 proof, however Hinduism talks about reincarnation doesn’t it? So if you’re a Christian, it’s not like you’re going to burn in a Hindu “hell”. So yes, they both have the same likelihood of being true, but Hinduism holds a slightly more risk.

  6. Keyring says:

Some Guy, yeah, but there’s also a chance that god is inherently evil and punishes all people who believe in him, sending atheists to heaven instead.
I love people trying to work this stuff out mathematically.

  7. Watcher Of Fools says:

Not really. If you follow any particular religion then at least you have that one chance that the God that you follow might be the true God.
If you are an atheist you don’t believe in any God at all so your chances are 0.

  8. Pulling Down Strongholds says:

no. the truth is revealed on this side of the grave. by the time you get on the other side and find out, it is too late.
atheism is like dross, theism is the gold ore.

  9. cynical says:

Yes, especially considering that Hinduism has been around longer than Christianity and they have a trinity similar to what Christians believe in. Guess who copy who.

  10. biblecod says:

NO…….Only Christianity (Jesus and the bible) threaten hell which is a real place in the center of the earth and science backs it up.http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=…

  11. Bamblee says:

I think Atheism has the same likelihood of being true as Hinduism. You deny that God exists – you’re deceiving yourself.

  12. Meklar says:

No, but the probabilities of each are so close to zero that the difference isn’t very significant.

  13. addicted says:

the EMPTY tomb speaks VOLUMES…….. the only thing the Jewish & Roman leadership had to do was produce the body….. and they had PLENTY to gain by doing so…. and this story would have died 2000 years ago….

  14. Sirius says:

    Jesus Christ
In Latin is : Hesus Chrisnal
Two gods combined. Hesus of the Druids and Krishna of the Hindus.

  15. Joe N says:

    No.
Christians have a monopoly on truth.
    Just ask them.

  16. meera_ah says:

No, No….I see religions as spiritual paths, no right or wrong. One can even choose no religion and still be spiritual, it is up to the individual to decide.
Hinduism a beautiful peaceful religion, In Hinduism, god or what is refer to as Brahman is seen as the eternal, unchanging, and non dual whole of reality. From a Hindu point of view the creation of the cosmos occurred when Brahman was concentrated at one point of absolute unity (referred to as bindu in Sanskrit) and then underwent an explosion and fractured itself into the manifested world of space, time, and whatever. In Sanskrit this is called, Sphoṭa, which literally means bursting and opening. Brahman goes through cycles of wholness and manyness. Brahman could be described as cosmic singularity in scientific terms. This is how eternal time is passed, it keeps things interesting. What would be the point of existnece if we knew everything and it was all good and no bad. In order for good to exist, there has to be bad. In order for pleasure to exist there has to be pain. If it was all pleasure all the time, then pleasure would lose its meaning, because there would be nothing to contrast it with.
There are also many other gods in Hinduism that represent some deeper truths. Vishnu, who is the maintainer and preserver, Vishnu would represent the logos (time, space, gravity, all the physical laws). There is Shiva the Destroyer and transformer, who represents the concept all things must pass, the idea that all material incantations decay…every human, animal, planet, star, and universe. However from this decay and destruction comes creation. They knew that the universe worked through cycles of creation, preservation, destruction, and transformation. Such as when stars die, their matter explodes through space and this allows other form to develop. The same goes for decomposing life, it is the seed for future creation. You see birth/creation and death/destruction are part of one process.
Hindu’s see matter as an illusion (Maya), as just expressions of vibrating energy (AUM). There is also a lot about karma, which basically means cause and effect. That events in the past will create the events of the future and that we as humans have the ability to create certain kinds of karma based on our actions. There is also reincarnation, which is to much to go into. All Hindus probaly beileve differnet things becasue there are so many Hindu texts comapred to most religions. The Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, The Vedas, to name a few.
