We just crossed the threshold that took us over the winter solstice and under the four year march to 2012. Interest in the date 12.21.2012 is increasing exponentially and 2009 will probably see a ten fold increase in interest as more books and new movies come to our attention. So, if you’re interested take the poll to the right hand site that’s been changed as we’ve now passed the winter solstice- 2008.   <

One of the soon to be released moives is directed by Roland Emmerich, and starring John Cusack and Amanda Peet, 2012 takes the “natural disasters foretold by ancient calendar” angle. Sun storms are affecting Earth, culminating in tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanoes. The story itself appears to be standard for disaster movies – short on science, long on stories of numerous individuals, and high on amazing special effects, with a small dose of conspiracy.

Never before has a date in history been so significant to so many cultures, so many religions, scientists, and governments. “2012″ is an epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors. This is just the first of many such movies in the theme.

But what about the realities? Are there any?

You can purchase the ebook “The Next Four Years : In Light Of The Last 50,000 Years” between Christmas and New Years form this site: 2012 Final Fantasy. We cannot get a realisitc grasp on 2012 and all that entails without knowing something about the cycles that accompany life on this planet. Many cycles are tens of thousands of years in duration like the three main Milankovitch cycles : eccentricity 100,000, obliquity 41,000, and precessional 26,000 year cycles.

Who has time for these? We should!

It’s obvious to me at least that we have taken to much of a short term view of things. Maybe it is the digital-microwave world that we live in that we want things quickly. Who cares what happened 65 million years ago, 74,000 years ago, or even 5,121 years ago? Well, we should because those are MAJOR events in the life of this planet. More and more people are interested in December 21, 2012, but when did it begin? Who knows what took place August 12, 3113 BCE when the Mayan long count calendar began?

Few!  :-(
