I had a blood test yesterday afternoon (one where they stick needle into vein at the elbow joint and take about 30+ mLs of blood).
I’m wondering, how long before I can start lifting weights again?
I usually lift really heavy and am worried that the wound will open while I’m working out, causing blood to splatter everywhere..

    what!? it wont open ..
    that little baby needle hole?
i use to life 15 pound weights right after, and i get blood taken out a lot,
they say don’t lift heavy objects because you can have minor bruising, but im pretty sure im not scared of a bruise.
i asked the nurse why they always say don’t lift heavy objects for 24 hours, and its cause bruising .

I get blood tested a lot and I still continue to follow my weight lifting routine the day after or even right after the blood test. It wont open up, but the place where they stuck the needle in will ache sorta like a tooth ache but on your arm. For me it took a week to two weeks to for the acheing to go away completely, but depends on your body. So just continue your routine, don’t worry nothing will happen.

Unless your doctor told you specifically not to do any heavy lifting, you should be able to go back to your normal routine as long as you’re feeling ok (ie. no dizziness, throbbing, etc.)
